Overview
A mid-sized law firm is seeking to hire a bankruptcy associate with 2-6 years of major law firm (biglaw) or mid-size experience. The ideal candidate will have been on a team which has represented official and unofficial committees of unsecured creditors and have experience in structuring, negotiating and documenting reorganization plans. The firm also takes on discreet Debtor cases.
Qualifications
· Florida state bar essential
· 2 years' Bankruptcy law firm experience required
· Candidates must have substantive knowledge of Title 11 of the US Code, all related rules and procedures, as well as Company side debtor experience
· Experience in bankruptcy and creditors' rights law, including collateral repossession, the Uniform Commercial Code (Articles 2, 2A and 9 in particular), equipment leasing, commercial real estate foreclosure and commercial finance law
· Courtroom experience
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities
· Handling all aspects of end to end client Bankruptcy matters
· Drafting first day pleadings, motions & chapter 11 plans
· Drafting complaints and motions
· Conducting discovery
· Taking depositions
· Appearing in Federal, State and Bankruptcy Courts
· Negotiating settlements
· Corresponding with Opposing Counsel & Clients
