Join the Discovery Day Camp community for a summer filled with creativity, leadership, and teamwork. Spend your day outside working with kids! We love to partner with you to provide internships, field experience, practicum hours, and skill building opportunities for your future adventures. All of our roles at camp are Monday-Friday and the typical day is from 8:20am-3:20pm, with additional hours available.

Summary: Discovery's Dance Specialist is an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who leads campers through dance instruction and exploration on a daily basis outside. Specialists design and implement a camp program that includes weekly lesson plans connected with our camp themes for campers ages 4-14. The plans challenge campers each week and inspire a passion for musical theater. The Dance Specialist will help with dance program planning and preparations prior to and during the summer including, but not limited to: choreography, weekly activities, schedules for groups, dance vocabulary, lesson plans with a variety of dance styles, song selections, and coordination for end of session Showcase performances. Must be comfortable implementing emergency plans (i.e., weather) and supporting medical/allergy needs of campers. Applicants should have excellent classroom management skills, high energy and flexibility, a passion for working with children and teaching experience in this area of specialty. The Discovery Staff is a team who works together in order for our entire camp community to feel safe, comfortable, and have a positive experience.

Discovery Day Camp is a family owned and American Camp Association accredited camp. That means that each summer you join us to work together to provide the highest standards of staff and campers’ health and safety.

Discovery Day Camp is a day camp located in the Vernon Hills, Illinois area with no on-site staff housing.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
