Job Description:

Join an innovative and dynamic team that strives to provide customers with personalized, transparent and simple ways to save interest, manage debt and access cash, via balance transfer promotions and cash advance capabilities.

Responsibilities include leading the development of the product family roadmap in partnership with the Business Director and Product Owner(s), ensuring alignment and dependencies are managed across the product teams; responsible for supervising Operations Analyst(s) and providing strategic and tactical direction for product customer experience, including operational process and control activities; responsible for overseeing promotional offer pricing strategies. Provides mentoring to team, fills in the business and/or technical knowledge gaps, etc. Negotiates and influences across product families, such as Portfolio Enablement and Acquisition, and internal departments such as Credit Risk, Finance and Fraud to ensure seamless delivery of priorities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of the product family roadmap in partnership with the Business Director and Product Owner(s), ensuring alignment and dependencies are managed across the product teams.
  • Provide mentoring, fills in the business and/or technical knowledge gaps, etc.
  • Negotiate and influence others across shared services and product teams across product families.
  • Collaborate with the DNA and Business Technology teams to prioritize strategic project work and risk mitigation.
  • Work closely with other product owner chapters to ensure consistency of skills and knowledge transfer.
  • Develops and coaches teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manages risk within the teams you oversee.

How You'll Do It

  • Develops product family vision and roadmap, creates promotional offer pricing strategies and maintains overarching product roadmap designed to support business goals - ensures continuous alignment and prioritization with Product Family Owners, Credit Risk, Finance and various internal cross-functional business partners.
  • Understands consumer and market needs and industry/competitive trends to identify market opportunities to drive values. Establishes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for value creation and efficiency for the product family and support POs in translating OKRs to the product teams. Establishes product Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to achieve, communicate priorities, decide which actions to take, prioritize features, and help build out long term strategies. Defines product family MVPs, prioritizing and accepting priorities in partnership with POs and architects.
  • Lead development and execution of effective product and operational controls, ensuring product capabilities and customer experiences are complete, timely and accurate.
  • Defines functional and non-functional product requirements; ensuring completeness, integral and consistent; source of requirements for product family. When applicable, manage product family requirements (i.e., functional and non-functional requirements) and objectives with external partners (e.g., Apple, WIPRO, etc.) Ensures product features and processes align with applicable Discover compliance and risk management standards.
  • Manages team of direct reports, responsible for people development and performance management, hiring and building team, coaching and mentoring
  • Creates prototypes (e.g., MVPs, POC, etc.) based on customer feedback to test, learn, and validate ideas before committing to larger scale development. Synchronizes and aligns with Product Family POs on prioritization and delivery to maximize Product Family Value.
  • Builds a culture of accountability and ownership by empowering the product family and setting clear expectations. Coaches product teams to eliminate risks and wastes, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.

Qualifications You'll Need

The Basics

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • 8 years' experience with Product, Business, Technical, or related
  • In lieu of a degree, 10 years' experience with Product, Business, Technical, or related

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $143,500.00 to $201,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
