This Application Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex data solutions for Finance Corporate Services. They will play a key role in mentoring and influencing peers to achieve commitments on data solutions in a timely fashion and with an emphasis on quality. The Application Engineer also has a broader influence through technical thought leadership amongst their peer tech lead community. And they will be relied on to know where to look if something breaks and are a key contributor in solving challenges quickly. 

Responsibilities

• Creates solutions addressing high impact technology and business priorities
• Competent in multiple contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business domains and is the go-to person for many people (inside and outside of their team)
• Demonstrates strategic, forward-thinking leadership and technology vision integrated with the Discover ecosystem as a whole
• Proactively identifies and mitigates issues based on intuition and experience in multiple domains
• Actively coaches and mentors the team, while building strong collaborative working relationships both within the team and cross-functionally 

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

• Bachelors – Computer Science or related
• 3 Years -- Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related

• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Preferred Qualifications

Bonus Points If You Have:

• 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: working with Agile software development methodology and Agile management tools, including Jira; utilizing modern engineering practices, including the design and development of ETL data integration solutions in data warehouse environments; working with relational databases and Cloud-based technologies; utilizing design and architecture experience on large-scale ETL solutions; and working with Enterprise Data warehouse data models and dimensional modeling concepts, source to target mapping, and data integration architecture
• Experience using AbInitio, SQL and Unix Scripting
• In addition to the minimum tools - Maestro/Control-M, AWS (Snowflake, S3, EC2, EMR)
• External Applicants will be required to perform a technical interview

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
