Job Summary
The Social Media Associate position reports to the Social Media Manager on the Health Communications Team at Westat. This position works with a collaborative social media team and contributes to social media monitoring, reporting, content development, and platform management across several public health projects.
Hybrid (1-2 days) work schedule preferred; remote work arrangement available.
Job Responsibilities
• Complete monthly social media reports that capture performance across social platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
• Schedule monthly and ad-hoc social media content using Sprout Social and manage real-time posting of content, as needed, on native platforms.
• Conduct weekly social media sweeps using Meltwater Explore and share social media engagement recommendations aligned with client engagement policies.
• Monitor social media handles daily for opportunities to engage with or amplify other accounts.
• Draft plain language social media copy on a range of important and emerging public health topics, including heart disease prevention, HIV prevention, and youth mental health.
• Support social media listening tasks and help gather insights on relevant inquiries.
Basic Qualifications
• Typically requires a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field and 2 or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience in developing social media content for an organization/brand/public entity.
• Experience with social media reporting or marketing/communications campaign reporting.
• Experience with Teams and MS Office including Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with social media management and reporting platforms such as Sprout Social.
• Experience in developing social media content for public health campaigns or federal government.
• Experience contracting or working with/for communications, public relations, or government agencies.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Facebook Business Suite, Basecamp, and Meltwater Explore.
