Job Title: Chief Medical Officer Psychiatrist - Inpatient Adult/General

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico

  • Full-time employment
  • Monday-Friday Schedule
  • 1:5 weekend coverage
  • Once per week overnight call

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Medical Officer Psychiatrist specializing in Inpatient Adult/General Psychiatry to join our leadership team. The Chief Medical Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping our clinical strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care, and driving innovation and excellence across our inpatient services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of New Mexico.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in adult/general psychiatry, with significant experience in an inpatient setting.
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably in a Chief Medical Officer or Medical Director role.
  • Strong clinical acumen and expertise in evidence-based psychiatric practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and continuous learning

Roles & Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership for the inpatient adult/general psychiatry program, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement clinical protocols, treatment plans, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation among staff members.

Strategic Planning and Program Development:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance and expand the scope and quality of inpatient psychiatric services.
  • Identify emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities for program growth and development.
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, increase access to care, and optimize resource utilization.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including clinical audits, peer reviews, and performance metrics analysis.
  • Implement strategies to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and engagement within the inpatient setting.

Staff Development and Training:

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and supervision to psychiatric staff, including psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, and support personnel.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development and training programs to enhance clinical skills, knowledge, and competencies.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect among clinical team members.

Community Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Represent the organization in professional forums, community events, and collaborative partnerships to promote mental health awareness and advocacy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, referral sources, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in initiatives to address mental health disparities, reduce stigma, and improve access to care for underserved populations.
