Diocese of Camden is Hiring a Compliance Specialist Near Camden, NJ

Compliance Specialist
The Compliance Specialist will manage and carry out programmatic audit activities in conjunction with the Executive Director. This position is responsible for applying regulatory compliance expertise and experience to examine documentation, and conduct analysis of the data to identify if deficiencies exist in meeting internal compliance requirements. Develop and apply best practices in controls and compliance with federal and state grant requirements as well as any other relevant organizational policies and procedures.
Job Duties Include:
  • Ensure that the organization has a clearly defined program for complying with federal and state grant requirements as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Executive Director with developing internal policies and procedures for all service areas and programs and adherence to them.
  • Appropriately plan audits to identify and evaluate key risks and controls to provide reasonable assurance of control effectiveness or measure compliance. Independently develops audit scopes, audit programs, tests of controls, data analyses, and strategies for the execution of audits.
  • Adequately documents audit work (narratives, process flows, etc.) to capture procedures performed, support conclusions reached, and identify internal controls and control weaknesses.
  • Create corrective action plans to deal with noncompliance.
  • Provide training to staff to ensure compliance.
  • Regularly review state and federal guidelines to identify new rules that apply to their entity.
  • Organize and participate in internal workgroups to resolve operational issues and activities related to plan initiatives and/or regulatory changes.
  • Participate in process improvement work teams, system implementations, or in other advisory capacities to provide input into internal controls and process workflows.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Understanding of process evaluation and review.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on initiative, knowledge sharing, team building and decision making.
  • Strong analytical, systemic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and in teams or effectively work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel functionalities (i.e., pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.)
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Strong ethical code
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years plus experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Project management experience or skills preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit preferred.
  • Experience with large grant compliance preferred.
