We are seeking a Research Intern to support the development of open-source deep learning models for genomic information processing and functional inference. You will be part of an early-stage nonprofit research startup that is driven by the mission to disrupt the way we interpret genomic data.Tatta Bio is a fiscally-sponsored project of Digital Harbor Foundation. Through a portfolio of projects focused on developing leadership within communities, Digital Harbor Foundation supports those closest to challenges to take deliberate actions based on a design thinking approach, backed by data analysis, grounded in a practice of collective impact, and driven by a commitment to racial equity.Experience Requirements
- Current PhD student in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.
- Research experience in Machine Learning with a track record of developing novel techniques.
- Experience developing and deploying models from scratch.
- Experience working with biological sequence data is a plus.
- Fluency in Python and experience with modern deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch) is required.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead an independent research project for peer-reviewed publication.
- Support the design, implementation, and analysis of deep-learning models for genomic sequences.
- Communicate research outcomes with visualizations and thorough documentation with the broader research community.
- Work closely with computational biologists to implement, analyze and benchmark novel architectures for genomic information processing and representation learning.

This position is fully remote.
This is a 10-week, paid, temporary, internship opportunity for summer 2024.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is $55 - $60 / hour.
