Baltimore Data Center Technician
qualifications:
1. Two (2) years of related Data Center infrastructure experience.
2. Hands-on hardware experience with business/enterprise-grade servers, such as HP WINTEL, and Cisco network equipment.
3. Previous experience working in a Data Center environment performing tasks such as “racking and stacking”, cable management, and cable testing.
4. Experience with the installation of server components such as Network Interface Cards (NICs), hard drives, DIMMs and other peripherals.
5. Familiarity with ticketing systems and dispatch procedures such as Remedy Help Desk, or CA Service Desk.
6. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as SharePoint, Word and Excel.
7. Network, Security or Server industry certifications would be a plus.
8. Possession of either a CDCMP or CDCDP certification is required.
9. Experience with the operation of a pallet jack.
10. Familiarity with the operation of a server lift.
1. Data Center whitespace.
2. Hot/Cold aisle cooling.
3. In-rack power units, especially APC PDUs.
4. In-rack cable management.
5. Structured cabling.
6. Typical data center copper cabling CAT6A and RJ45 connectors.
7. Typical data center copper and fiber cabling, Multimode, Single Mode.
8. Fiber connectivity, LC, FC, SFP , MTP, MPO.
9. Single mode and three-phase power.
10. Networking Concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc.).
11. Server hardware.
12. Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and local storage.
13. Backup tape rotation procedures.
14. Mainframes and IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC).
15. Data Center safety and emergency procedures.
1. Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
2. Reach 30” above their head.
3. Crouch below waist level.
4. Ability to climb warehouse-type ladders.
5. See small objects at distances of 1-3 feet.
6. Withstand typical data center hot/cold aisle temperatures.
7. The position will require periods of 5-8 hours of standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing.
