• Oversee the maintenance of all equipment, buildings, vehicles and tools through strategic third-party vendor contracting, direct report performance and personal physical performance of maintenance and repair duties.
• Develop vendor relationships with reliable and cost-effective vendors.
• Source and purchase parts and tools.
• Collaborate with transportation team to ensure equipment is maintained and is safe and effective.
• Conduct employment interviews and work with HR to ensure departments are fully staffed.
• Ensures that employees receive proper training and certifications necessary to operate equipment and machinery.
• Leads team in overall safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self and employees.
• Supports QEHS Manager in rolling out processes, training and being an overall leader in safety.
• Mentor, coach, train and develop direct reports.

Qualifications

• 5 years technical and managerial experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent and technical education or certification. 
• Proven experience as a maintenance manager and leader, preferably in a scrap yard or similar industrial setting. 
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing machinery and equipment. 
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems commonly used in industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments. 
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
• Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting and working in confined spaces. 
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols at all times.
