Adult Habilitation Center Worker

Dickinson Center, Inc. has provided a continuum of mental health, intellectual disability, and Children's Prevention services in Northwestern Pennsylvania since 1958. Dickinson Center, Inc. is a progressive non-profit organization with almost 200 employees and an annual operating budget of nearly $10 million.
Dickinson is currently looking for an Adult Habilitation Center Worker to join our team. Direct service employees provide services to adults with developmental disabilities who live in community settings which include families, group homes, and Lifesharing. Based upon the principles of normalization and everyday lives, individuals are presented with opportunities to gain and enhance life experiences. Services consist of supervision, training, and support in general areas of self-care, communication, community participation, and socialization. Areas of emphasis include: therapeutic activities, fine and gross motor development, mobility, personal adjustment, use of community resources, and relationship development. These activities are designed to promote independence while allowing each person to accomplish everyday tasks in order that they may live a quality life. There is a minimum of 1:6 staff ratio maintained at all times. The day is structured to include individual and group activities. Individuals are always encouraged to participate and guide the program to their greatest extent and interest. Services must meet regulatory requirements of programs licensed under the 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2380, Older 6 Pa. Code Chapter 11 Adult Day Services, and fall within the Waiver Service Definitions authorized by the Office of Developmental Programs and the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Therapeutic Activities Services Worker (TASW) provides direct care at the ADT program. This program provides day services in Potter County to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The TASW provides daily individualized care to each consumer while encouraging independence, respecting personal preferences, and ensuring their health and welfare.

Essential Functions
1. Models and fosters an organizational culture of respect, cooperation, and service excellence.
2. Plans and implements therapeutic, educational, and social activities on site and in the community.
3. Follows each consumer's ISP, including skill development and maintenance, health guidelines, and outcome plans.
4. Provides physical assistance as needed during ambulation, wheelchair transfers, and personal care.
5. Observes consumers for changes in abilities, behaviors, moods, and general health status.
6. Transports consumers to community activities using agency or personal vehicle. Drives in a professional and safe manner, following all agency protocol and PA driving laws.
7. Manages challenging and emergency events in a calm and professional manner. Follows consumer support plans and training to ensure a safe response.
8. Administers and monitors consumer medications in compliance with IDD regulations.
9. Provides accurate documentation in all areas required by agency regulations and standards such as Avatar day sheets and progress notes, medical case notes, assessments, incident reports, medication logs, etc.
10. Works collaboratively and professionally with internal and external services such as
co-workers, consumer's family members, county MH/MR personnel, community members, etc.
11. Participates in staff meetings, ISP reviews, and trainings as necessary. Maintains 24 hours of training per year.
12. Lifts 50 pounds.
13. Follows all DCI policies and procedures, including federal and state regulations.
14. Performs other tasks as assigned.
