Dicalite is a company that uses naturally occurring minerals to improve products used for filtration of liquids such as wine, beer, and swimming pool water, for use in building products such as wallboard, ceiling tile, and joint compound, and for use in creating potting soils and hydroponic growing media for plant growth. Dicalite operates at the intersection of branded consumer products, industrial manufacturing, and research & product development to provide value to over 1,000 customers across the world. Dicalite is privately owned and has been in business for 93 years.

Dicalite’s operating footprint includes 16 facilities across North America and Europe. Operating through a fully integrated network of five mines and twelve refining, processing, and packaging facilities, the company has a unique multi-mineral platform that includes perlite, vermiculite, and diatomaceous earth. Dicalite’s core business is selling wholesale products to blue chip customers such as Home Depot, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Cargill, DuPont, Leslie’s Pool Supplies, numerous California wineries, 3M, and Nestle Purina, among others. In 2021, Dicalite launched a direct-to-consumer line of gardening products. These products are marketed under the Harvest Hero brand name (www.HarvestHero.com).

Broad Function:

Responsible for preventive maintenance on stationary equipment including screens, conveyors, screws, elevators, and crushers.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Perform all responsibilities expected of a Maintenance Helper (refer to maintenance helper job description)

· Perform basic welding and fabrication using stick welder, wire feed welder, acetylene torch, plasma cutter, grinder.

· Take precise measurements and read basic drawings or blue-prints.

· Replace bearings on all stationary equipment.

· Inspect, replace, and patch all on site screens.

· Replace idlers and rollers for all on site conveyor belts.

· Replace all V-belts and power bands on all stationary equipment.

· Operate extended fork, manlifts, and other mobile equipment used to perform maintenance.

· Inspect Roller Mills (oil, rolls, plows and rings), Vertical Shaft Impact Crushers (oil, shoes, anvils, edge liners, and feed screws).

· Replace baghouse filters (cages, venturis, and filter bag).

· Install screw conveyor sheer bolts.

· Familiar with safe rigging practices.

· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Knowledge of how to safely use hand, fabrication, measurement, and power tools.

· Follow all company safety guidelines and regulations found in 30 CFR (Mineral Resources).

· Must all tools from the Minimum Tool List.

· Must be able to follow directions and have the aptitude to learn.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Familiar with Socorro Mine/Plant layout and equipment location.

· Available for Emergency Call Outs

· Internal Hire: Must be Socorro Mine Maintenance Helper for 6-months to 1-year or have been a previous “Maintenance Mechanic” for minimum 1-year.

· External Hire: 2 to 4 years external experience in a technical field.

Working Conditions:

· Indoor and outdoor environments, moderate to loud noise levels.

· Standing for long periods on concrete or other hard surfaces.

· Work performed primarily in manufacturing and processing site.

· Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.

· Working at height and confined spaces.

· Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, manipulating tools/objects.
