QUALITY CONTROL BLENDER

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for providing and supporting our walnut processing operations team. Under the direction of a Department Manager, Shift Supervisor or Key Area Operator the quality control blender prepares products to specification for the packaging lines. Also includes preparation of verbal or written reports as required. This position will work in our Stockton, CA plant and report to the Bulk Shelled department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adjusts equipment as required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This includes air legs, product dumpers, feeders, size equipment, spraying equipment, etc.
  • Completes required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This includes using bar coding equipment and computer terminals.
  • Drives a Lift Truck in a safe and responsible manner. Must have a good to excellent safety record on a lift truck.
  • Uses tools for minor machinery adjustments as required.
  • Knows the targets/goals for his/her work center and adjusts equipment to achieve targets.
  • Informs Mechanical/Electrical staff when assistance is required.
  • Prepares product to specification to meet the shift schedule.
  • Other Duties as assigned relevant to successfully completing the job.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
  • Work flexible shifts and schedules including overtime.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes.
  • Documents the sanitary/safety conditions by completing the necessary “Checklists” as required.
  • Understand and has reviewed/signed all safe work procedures for the work area.
  • Practices safe work procedures and wears all safety and sanitation equipment as required for the job.
  • This position requires safety equipment be worn such as, but not limited to, protective footwear, hard hats, and ear plugs. Also, additional items may be required by a supervisor when working in a specific area.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Effective reading, writing, and speaking skills at multiple levels.
  • Required to work any shift.
  • Required to work overtime if necessary.
  • Required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • To work near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Able to climb 12-foot ladder.
  • Able to work in elevated areas greater than 6ft above the floor.
  • Able to work in a loud environment.
  • Must pass forklift certification.
  • Must pass operator (cases) test

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Food industry experience
  • Prior experience as a machine operator.
  • Training programs in safety.
  • Experience with basic Microsoft application (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of food and packaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of filling and labeling equipment.
  • Ability to effectively utilize JDE for daily operational needs.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and Hydraulic system plus

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
