DHS Brand is Hiring an Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing Near Washington, DC

Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol National Mall is always looking for the most qualified and experienced professionals in the industry. We are conveniently located within minutes of DC-area attractions, government agencies, and key businesses. 

Position Summary:

Responsible for selling hotel rooms and function space as well as assisting the daily operation of the Sales Department.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets, market share growth, and guest satisfaction.
  2. Foster strong relationships with key accounts, decision makers and clients to drive repeat business. 
  3. Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone and internet prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. 
  4. Achieve or exceed monthly activity goals (telephone and internet prospecting, outside sales calls and site inspections). Activities should be entered into Delphi fdc within 72 hours of occurrence. 
  5. Serves as the hotel representative to prospective clients and customers who need to rent rooms, meeting space, banquet services, etc.
  6. Meet and exceed sales goals.
  7. Participate in weekly sales and marketing meetings.
  8. Prepares reports as outlined, including, but not limited to forecasts, weekly commentary and updates, monthly commentary and productivity reports.
  9. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans.
  10. Utilize market research to identify trends and opportunities, adjusting strategies accordingly.
  11. Uphold and enhance the hotel’s brand image and positioning in the market.
  12. Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels and touchpoints.
  13. Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments, including operations, finance, and guest services.
  14. Work closely with Director of Sales and Marketing to align sales and marketing strategies with overall business objectives. 
  15. Strategize with revenue team to maximize rates and achieve overall long-term goals.
  16. Drive business on shoulder days, recognizing patterns and securing business that makes sense for the property. 
  17. Plan and participate in sales blitzes and initiatives to targeted market segments and accounts.
  18. Ensure all leads within market segments are responded to within the deadline.
  19. Knowledge of all hotel facilities and nearby attractions.
  20. Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the hotel. Including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
  21. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by willingly engaging in other critical sales areas when required. Additional duties may be required based on the business needs. 

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in full-service hospitality sales strong preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of hotel sales management experience
  • Knowledge of sales and hospitality principles and practices
  • Strong prospecting and contract negotiation skills.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and attentive to detail skills
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Knowledge in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word
  • Strong prospecting and negotiation skills
