POSITION SUMMARY:

Prepares instruments and supplies to perform sterilization according to DHR policy and procedures. Maintains inventory supply for department. Performs routine and delegated duties.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School diploma/GED

• Medical terminology preferred

• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
• Prefer hospital experience

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :

• • One ( 1 ) year experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • High degree of competency/experience in general.
  • Requires good communication and organizational skills.
  Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.

  POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values
  • in developing services, standards and practice
  • Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each procedure approved for the Facility.
  • Cleans each item according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Inspects equipment for damage and defects; lubricates items as Required
  • Determines that each item is in good working condition.
  • Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing.
  • Positions items correctly in re-processors and selects proper cycle; seeks assistance when needed.
  • Checks indicators for proper functioning.
  • Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures.
  • Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout disinfection process.
  • Cleans re-processors according to established policies & procedures.
