DHR Health is Hiring a Respiratory Supervisor- FT- Days- WH RT EKG Near Edinburg, TX

POSITION SUMMARY :

Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned department(s) on a twenty-four hour basis. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, as well as making suggestions for revision of same. Maintains open communication with all nursing staff to promote improvement in performance. Maintains open communication with fellow Directors and Chief Nurse Executive. Assumes responsibility of administrative supervisor as needed. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS :

¨ Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Therapy

¨ Registered by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care)

¨ Current RCP License in the State of Texas (Respiratory Care Practitioner)

¨ Current BLS

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :

¨ Minimum of two ( 2 ) years experience as first-line manager.

¨ Requires knowledge of Texas and Federal regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.

¨ Broad understanding of patient care processes.

¨ Able to apply principles of managerial and leadership theory.

¨ Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.

¨ The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing required; as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.

¨ Must be flexible with work scheduling.

¨ Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.

¨ Must be flexible with work scheduling.

¨ Excellent customer service skills.

¨ Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

¨ Good written and verbal communication skills required.

¨ Bilingual – English/Spanish.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

¨ Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices

¨ Supervises the oncology outpatient infusion unit and ensures patients get the best possible medical care.

¨ Must also participate in providing services and ensuring supervision of medical staff present in the oncology department. Assist other dept directors with clinical practice and guidelines on any unit treating oncology patients.

¨ Provide proven clinical leadership and always try to ensure that there is a team approach to a case.

¨ Works with the Senior DHR Leadership to plan and ensure the best possible options for treatment of cases.

¨ Must be sensitive to the patients needs and must coordinate between the families and relatives of the patients while explaining the best possible treatment plan for the patients. If the family or patients have any doubts, he should try to clear it out.

¨ Excellent inter and intra-personal communication skills, so that they can manage his team of health care providers, while also managing their patients and handling their doubts in a professional manner.

¨ To develop, coordinate and supervise staff within the department and between other departments.

¨ Oversee evaluation and management of clinical practices within the department and in other departments.

¨ Ensure that there is adequate staff with appropriate training in the department, and exceptional customer service that provides quality health care.

¨ In charge of assigning and reviewing the work of the staff of department.

¨ Providing for and recommending selections, promotions, awards, and corrective actions as is needed within the department. This is done by participating in the production of setting performance standards for the staff and then monitoring, assessing, reviewing and evaluating employee performance based on these established standards.

¨ Duty of providing clear and concise verbal and written instructions regarding running the department to ensure that they are understood.

¨ Ensures that department staff are kept up to date on any changes that are occurring regarding the working style of the department or the pay pattern.

¨ Counsel and instruct customers and family members either directly or with the help of a referral, whichever is more suited to the requirement at that point of time. Communication style is adjusted so as to fit the receiver of the message.

¨ Proper usage of the computer system so as to obtain necessary customer information, order required laboratory tests and to check messages.

¨ Ensures the efficient and effective flow of customers throughout the department, while also ensuring that they are being properly treated and taken care for.

¨ Intervenes and diffuse any situation that involves agitated, confused, scared or emotional customers and family members. Needs to be patient with them and reassure them that the treatment being offered is the best available treatment.

¨ Ability to resolve any kind of argument or misunderstanding that may crop up between the medical staff. Sometimes, there tends to be a disagreement over the diagnosis or the treatment plan that is chalked out for a patient. In such cases, it is important to amicably resolve the dispute in the best interests of the staff and the patient at heart.

¨ Abides by policies, procedures and laws to ensure that the best interests of the organization are kept in mind while providing quality health care.

¨ Ensures that a safe work environment for the staff is maintained by keeping a clean work environment, including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment. needs to update employees on health records and assist in disaster planning and other such activities that the staff and organization may have to face.

¨ Direct and manage clinical functions and patient care activities of the Respiratory department while staying within budget.

¨ Ensures prompt investigation of complaints regarding services by department and take appropriate actions

¨ Ensures strict confidentiality guidelines are adhered to and remedial actions taken with regard to such violation

¨ Encourages effective cost containment practices through management and staff development

¨ Responsible for ensuring completion of personnel evaluations, job descriptions, policies and procedures of assigned department

¨ Other duties as assigned
