Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:
The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the plant with a monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. The Master Scheduler is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels for finished goods and safety stock of raw materials. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop detailed production plans, by month, for a rolling three-month period. The Master Scheduler will also ensure that level-loaded supply orders are in place for end items to cover the entire backlog. Strong collaboration with the Key Account Managers, Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.
Objectives of this Role
  • Create a rolling 3-month Master Production Plan for designated products. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities. Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times.
  • Perform supply demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.
  • Make delivery commitments on MTO products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.
  • Develop inventory targets and manage production to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a value and unit basis.
  • Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels to ensure high service levels, i.e. product availability.
  • Project finished goods inventory levels on a quarterly basis. Achieve desired MCE inventory turn targets.
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric of production performance to the requested production schedule. Project the product to be built, shipped, and past due in sales dollars for the current quarter and year end.
  • Review sales forecast with sales management on a monthly basis and suggest modifications consistent with knowledge of current or historical demand.
  • Will be the subject matter expert in Epicor Planning and Shop Floor Execution processes.
  • Timely reporting of key metrics.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
  • Implement and Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process meetings to review service levels, performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand, and resource implications. Update Master Production Plan as necessary.
  • Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly schedule attainment to meet the demands of the customer, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
  • Record and report on the progress against the build plan daily.
  • Ensure coordination with production and procurement leadership to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Meet regularly with planning, supply chain and operations leaders to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and schedule attainment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as required.
Salary Range: $105,000-$115,000
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years in Master Scheduling and Inventory Control
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
  • Ability to work with all levels of company staff
  • Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP)
  • Proficiency with ERP systems for inventory and production control
  • Specific proficiency with Epicor ERP System
  • Lean/6Sigma certification(s)/training
