Responsibilities:
Process Improvement: A strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Be adept at analyzing workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.
Data Analysis: Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (such as Minitab, Excel, or Python) is essential. Use data to make informed decisions, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement.
CAD Software: Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for creating layouts, designing workspaces, and optimizing equipment placement.
Project Management: Strong project management skills.
Communication: Demostrate effective communication with cross-functional teams, presenting findings, and implementing changes. Industrial engineers must convey complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Manufacturing Knowledge: Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment. This includes knowledge of machining, assembly, welding, and other production techniques.
Quality Control: Familiarity with quality control methods, inspection procedures, and root cause analysis is beneficial.
Experience:
Previous Experience: Prior experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or related fields preferred. Experience in a similar role within the automotive or trailer industry is preferred including relevant experience through internships or co-ops.
Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt can enhance preferred.
