Job Title: Insurance Authorization Coordinator

Duration: 6 months Contract to Hire

Location: Jupiter, FL 33458 (5 days onsite)

Must-Haves:

• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with EPIC or any EMR background desired.
• Strong communication and soft skills for a call center environment

Responsibilities:

• Verify health insurance information and obtain authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals for medical services.
• Utilize electronic scheduling/registration/financial systems, payer websites, and recorded calls to validate coverage and benefits.
• Collaborate with Managed Care to understand insurance rules and contract language.
• Contact patient’s insurance companies to verify coverage, initiate authorizations, and provide clinical documentation.
• Process authorizations electronically using payer portals, fax, or telephone.
• Determine medical necessity for services using medical criteria software.
• Review and verify insurance plans to confirm patient eligibility and benefits.
• Document findings and pertinent information in patient records and appointment notes.
• Provide documentation upon request from insurance companies.
• Collaborate with team members to solve problems and enhance department efficiency.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to questions, and document messages.
• Provide coverage for co-workers' responsibilities when necessary.
• Maintain patient record confidentiality and perform other assigned duties.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience with hospital insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, and PPOs.
• Excellent typing and computer skills.
• Familiarity with area managed care plans and contractual terms.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in follow-up discussions with clinical staff.
• 2-3 years of specialized training in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.29 - $23.00 per hour
