Description

DeWitt seeks a full-time Legal Assistant with at least one year of law firm experience for its Minneapolis, Minnesota, location. A DeWitt employee must be a team player, detail-oriented, have a proven work ethic, and have excellent communication skills. Savvy technical skills, professionalism, and the capability to manage workflow from multiple attorneys will make you a well-rounded candidate. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, proofread, revise, profile, and save correspondence and drafts of documents to the document management system (Netdocs)
  • Document reproduction, including printing, copying, scanning, and client file maintenance
  • Client billing activities such as time entry, proofreading, modifying, and sending client invoices
  • Client contact, monitor email, and regular mail to resolve questions from clients and co-workers
  • Scheduling support, expense reimbursement management, and overall administrative support for multiple attorneys
  • Conducting conflict checks and opening new client/matter files in the firm’s time and billing system (Aderant)
  • Provide backup support for receptionist breaks and paid time off
  • Assist additional attorneys as needed during support staff paid time off

Requirements

  • Prior law firm experience in the areas of estate planning, business, and real estate is preferred but not required
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written and strong client service acumen
  • Aptness to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills for undertaking a large volume of work
