DeWitt Animal Hospital, P.C. is a small one doctor general practice companion animal hospital. Our services specialize in routine and preventative care for canines and felines throughout all stages of life. We have extensive boarding facilities and partner with the Friends of Animals program to provide affordable spay/neuter procedures.

We are looking for a motivated team player to support the continued growth of our hospital.
The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the hospital, as well as proper husbandry and care of all hospitalized and boarded animals. This includes, but is not limited to feeding, bathing, cleanliness of cages, runs, and ward areas.
Outside of the above listed duties, Veterinary Assistants perform baths and play times for boarded animals, wrap and sterilize surgery packs, assist the Veterinarian/Licensed Veterinary Technician in appointments, and many other supporting tasks for the hospital.
YOU WILL BE EXPOSED TO: Unpleasant odors (feces, urine, vomit, blood), and loud/obnoxious noises. Veterinary Assistants may also be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases. *Due to company policy and exposure to veterinary hazards in this position, all applicants must be over the age of 18.
Some veterinary terminology and knowledge will be required. Training will be provided; experience with animal care is welcomed.
**This position is part-time - Your availability MUST include the following days/times. The ability to reliably meet availability is a contingency of employment. We appreciate honesty and reliability. **
Availability to include: Monday 8am to 5pm, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10am to 7pm, Saturday from 8am to 4pm (every other week 9am to 2pm), and Sunday from 8 am -12 pm and 5pm to 7 pm.
Please indicate number of hours per week you are interested in. This position will typically range from 15-32 hours per week; maximum of 36 hours per week. If you have any scheduling conflicts, please note on your application.
Physical Requirements: This position requires lifting and carrying animals and food bags/cases (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position.

DeWitt Animal Hospital was recently remodeled, and consists of two exam rooms, a large boarding kennel, surgical suite, and digital radiography. We have brand new in-house Idexx laboratory equipment, digital radiology, and have been increasingly paper light over our ten years with Cornerstone software. We are a practice performing both preventive and wellness care, along with soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
