BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

The E&P Ops Automation Operator, under general supervision, performs complex oilfield automation tasks to provide assistance in the oversight for the optimization of oilfield automation and communications systems. The position requires the individual to assist automation, maintenance, production, engineering staff and field personnel to implement and maintain automation equipment in a field environment. May also provide equipment installation support.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent and a Certificate in an Electronics related field; Associates' degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

Requires minimum of two years of related industry experience in oilfield automation, instrumentation and/or production operations

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possess the right and obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or are suspected
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship
  • Troubleshoots well site automation and communication equipment
  • Determine requirements, specifications and make recommendations for automation and communication equipment
  • Configure Programmable Logic Controllers and Remote Terminal Units, specifically Allen Bradley PLCs, SCADAPACK PLCs, Fisher ROC 107/800s and FB2000/3000 RTUs.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance for communication, tank, wellhead, production, pump and pipeline equipment as required, specifically Xetawave/Cambium/Cell modem radios, Rosemount/Oleumtech/Signal Fire wired and wireless telemetry
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency communications systems, conventional and spread spectrum and familiarity with TCP/IP and Modbus networking is preferred
  • Familiarization with AC and DC distribution and control systems preferred
  • Assist maintenance, production and engineering field personnel on operation and maintenance of automation equipment
  • Oversee automation and communication contractors
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with field personnel, landowners, and purchasers
