Summary/Objective

DEPS Speech and Language Pathologis t (SLP) support each patient while utilizing evidence-based therapy with a foundation of Verbal Behavior. The SLP will work to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, communication, swallowing disorders in children. The SLP reports to their direct supervisor regarding client specific training and implementation and the Executive Director of DEPS for general employment.

Essential Functions:

• Directly assess and diagnose speech and language disorders in patients.
• Create individualized treatment plans for each patient to directly treat the diagnosis.
• Provide education to families on the successful interventions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other service providers on a regular basis.
• Train and supervise clinic support personnel.
• Provide appropriate supervision to Clinical Fellows as needed.
• Submit notes and data in a timely fashion.
• Follow guidelines set forth for SLPs by ASHA.
• Knowledge of feeding interventions.

This is a full-time position; In-clinic, in -person; Monday-Friday 7:45 AM - 5:15 PM. No weekend, no travel.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Valid state licensure through Arizona Department of Health Services
• Experience working with children
• Competent in the implementation of evidence-based therapy techniques
• Must have reliable transportation
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Fingerprint Clearance - Must successfully past a criminal background check for the purpose of obtaining DPS Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card. If you are currently on probation DPS may deny your Class 1 Clearance and you may be terminated from your employment upon verification of the denial from DPS
• Must have the ability to lift and carry clients and maintain a variety of postures including but not limited to kneeling, squatting, standing, and sitting on the floor for extended periods of time. Candidate must also have the ability to move quickly to ensure client safety.

• Must pass a criminal history background check and drug screening

Work Environment

This job operates in a medical office/childcare environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
