Detroit Mechanix is a professional ultimate frisbee team based in Detroit, Michigan. We compete in the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) and are dedicated to providing a seamless and enjoyable experience for both players and fans. We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Clock Operator to join our game-day operations team and ensure accurate timekeeping during home matches.
Job Description:
As a Clock Operator for the Detroit Mechanix, you will play a crucial role in managing the game clock and scorekeeping system during our home games. You will work closely with the officiating crew and game officials to ensure accurate timing and scoring, contributing to the overall flow and integrity of the game. Your attention to detail and ability to work under pressure will be essential in maintaining the pace and fairness of each match.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate the game clock and scoreboard system according to league regulations and game officials' instructions.
  • Start, stop, and reset the game clock as needed to reflect game actions such as timeouts, halftime, and end-of-quarter breaks.
  • Keep accurate records of scores, timeouts, and other game-related statistics throughout each match.
  • Coordinate with the officiating crew to address any timing or scoring discrepancies promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the announcer and production staff to ensure seamless integration of timing and scoring updates during game broadcasts.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues with the clock or scoreboard system and report maintenance needs as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience operating a game clock or scoreboard system preferred but not required; training will be provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during fast-paced and dynamic game situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with ultimate frisbee or similar sports is a plus but not essential.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the UFA season.
  • Dependability and punctuality are essential, as the accurate timing of games is crucial to the integrity of competition.
