Position Summary

Teach music to PK3 and PK4 classes. Affection for students in this age group, an understanding of their needs and energy, and a willingness to work collaboratively with staff, administration and parents are prerequisites. This is a part-time morning position, that is scheduled to work Monday - Friday, approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Duties

Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning
Plan, guide and direct musical performances as needed
Use age appropriate methods to create an atmosphere for music explorations and creative initiatives
Plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of students learning
Maintain a regular system of monitoring assessment, record-keeping and reporting of children’s progress
Communicate and consult with parents over all aspects of their children’s education – academic, social and emotional
Utilize Canvas to guide students and parents through the curriculum
Nurturing an inclusive environment in which all students can participate fully and have a sense of belonging

Qualifications

Bachelor degree; Master’s degree preferred
Functional piano and/or guitar skills preferred but not required
Experience working with children in a preschool, community class, or early elementary setting
