Destiny Springs Healthcare is Hiring a Nurse Educator Near Surprise, AZ

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Demonstrates the clinical expertise, leadership, management, communication skills and knowledge of educational principles necessary to develop educational programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.
  • Ability to develop instructional materials; set-up and demonstrate patient care equipment.
  • Conducts educational classes, in-services, new employee orientation, and/or provides individual instruction as necessary.
  • Facilitates CPR/AED certification courses.
  • Facilitates Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.
  • Creates onboarding activities and evaluates new employee’s performance during conditional period. Will provide remedial education and orientation as necessary or appropriate.
  • Develops objectives for each in-service and evaluates presentation and teaching material through staff feedback.
  • Interacts professionally with the nursing staff and nursing leadership to determine specific educational and/or developmental needs.
  • Documents staff attendance at in-services; ensures educational/competency requirements, organization requirements and standards are met on an annual basis by all nursing staff members in collaboration with the nursing leadership team.
  • Ability to serve as a resource person, consultant to nursing and medical staff by utilizing Policy & Procedure.
  • Identifies, develops, coordinates and plans educational offerings for Behavioral Health personnel, with consideration of but not limited to mandatory regulations, safety, performance improvement, new equipment, technologies, and clinical practices.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by a registered nurse or the Director of Nursing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor environment within Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatric Hospital. Helps train the staff Moderate physical activity. Some hazard potential from possibility of physical acting out behavior of patients and health related communicable diseases.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken work during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Ability to express and exchange ideas via written assignments effectively and accurately. Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Performs repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.

Work is primarily sedentary in nature requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; conditions are typical of office settings and administrative work. Must be able to address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames.

TRAVEL:

This position requires no travel.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Current and unencumbered RN License in the state of Arizona.
  • A minimum of two years of group facilitation & training experience required.
  • BSN required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • CPI/BLS Certified Instructor
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certified Instructor
  • Five years of behavioral health experience in an inpatient hospital preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $44.00 per hour
