Destinations North America - Cruise Line Services is Hiring a Portland Tour Operations Manager, (Year Round) Near Portland, ME

Key Responsibilities

· Hire and train Portland team.

  • Ensure all Portland pier team members and guides complete all necessary HR paperwork prior to starting.
  • Manage team members to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the execution of shore excursion operations on all ship days.

· Oversee and assist the guide manager to ensure hiring, scheduling and training of all tour guides to meet seasonal program needs.

  • Oversee and assist bus coordinator to ensure effective and efficient bus staging, and driver instructions. Assist bus coordinator with breakdowns, delays, etc.
  • Tour Timing Sheet - Organize and manage all tour timing sheets at the start of the season. One to three days prior to ship call, review for accuracy and distribute to guide manager and bus coordinator. Day of arrival print and distribute last minute changes.
  • Tour Load Sheet – Morning of ship arrival, print copies and distribute to team. Input all necessary data throughout the day. Finalize prior to leaving the pier. Must be accurate for accounting, vendor payment, guide payments etc. MAKE sure it is correct.
  • Liaise with the shore excursion manager throughout the day and execute end of the day settlement sheet with the ship.
  • Problem solve issues throughout the day. Be forward thinking/proactive.
  • Safety - Ensure guides, pier team, bus drivers are compliant with all company, local, national and government regulations and safety practices.

· Participate in all DNA operations meetings related to Portland.

  • Manage vendor relationships and communication in Portland.
  • Assist with the development of new and current tour programs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

· Management and leadership: By direction and demonstration, ensure positive, constructive, open, effective team behaviors.

Be able to work 8-13 hours including walking, standing, and sitting on ship days.

· Ability to maintain even toned, professional demeanor in stressful situations particularly for but not limited to managing employees, clients and vendors.

· Excellent communication skills to ensure clarity and accuracy with all team members.

· Proficiency with computer applications-MS office, particularly Excel

· Strong in analytics and planning skills
