Job Description

Sixtysix is seeking an experienced full-time, NYC-based Art Director. This role reports to the Creative Director / Publisher and works alongside our Managing Editor.

A love of the combination of visuals and language, timeliness and a sense of urgency are imperative.

The majority of this role is remote with in person meetings and production time on sets as needed.

Responsibilities:

• This individual will have exceptional creativity, typography, design ability, and storytelling skills to create compelling and innovative magazine layouts.
• They must possess an ability to conceptualize the visual components of a story and execute them from start to finish, including formulating pitches, planning photography, creating story layouts, and communicating ideas with freelance teams and editors.
• Assist in pitching creative concepts directly to clients, and develop ideas that fit within the provided budgets and strategic objectives.
• The position will be responsible for working with the editorial team to develop and oversee intricate photoshoots—both on location and in the Sixtysix studio. The ability to create visually dynamic solutions for onset and location photography is a must.
• Responsible for researching beautiful and inspiring images for inspiration and pitching editorial subjects.
• The position involves intense multi-tasking and working on projects both short and long term simultaneously and managing the production of complex editorial, client, and partner projects.
• The position manages production duties such as schedule tracking and process development, and preparing files for pre-press and press production.

Being a self-starter, ambitious, energetic, and organized are all must-have qualities, along with a strong eye for detail and the ability to work efficiently while juggling multiple projects. A desire to work as part of a team is a must.

Essential Qualifications:

• 5 years professional experience art directing in media, fashion brands or premium creative agencies.
• Strong visual presentation skills.
• Excellent ability with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign)
• Experience on set and with pre- and post-production processes for still photography
• Passion for/experience in industry categories relevant to Sixtysix’s community and audiences: designer, interiors, fashion, luxury, entertainment, art, and travel
• A portfolio demonstrating a visually ambitious body of work and a strong sense of storytelling.
• Highly organized, and skilled with time-management and workload prioritization.
• Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design and experiential, and a cultural point of view that translates to brand campaigns.
