Material Handler
Production West Valley, Utah Minimum Experience Entry-level Desert Tech, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of firearms, has an opening for a Material Handler.
Hours of Operation : Mon - Thu, 5AM - 3 : 30 PM (OT as necessary)
Position Summary :
Expedites and facilitates the flow of materials to and from the various departments based on the Production Schedule. Material Handler is expected to become familiar with all operations of the process to gain a full understanding of constraints and process flows.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
Evaluates the schedule to identify : packets to build, jobs to stage, jobs to move, and ensure scheduled dates are achieved
Picks and issues raw materials / unfinished parts based on job requirements using the ERP system
Ensures all work centers always have completed job packet(s), complete set-up kit(s) and raw material / unfinished parts staged to minimize work center downtime which may include intervention with other departments
Inspects job quantities at various stages of part process to ensure accurate data has been written
Ensures product is quickly and accurately moved from operation to operation to ensure all steps of the job traveler are completed in the proper order in an expeditious manner
Perform basic level inspection duties on parts and products
Assists production departments when needed to help meet deadlines
Collaborates with the scheduling department to make scheduling corrections based on priorities
Works with production departments to help maintain a clean shop
Assists in ensuring all State and Federal regulations are followed to include : BA TFE, EP A, RCRA, and other applicable agencies
Any other duty or responsibility assigned by supervisor Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen : Y es
Legal age required : 18
Education : High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience : Shop related experience is preferred.
Physical Demands : Sit or stand for extended periods of time (>
4 hours). Must be lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment : Indoor shop environment with CNC / machine noise. Requires safety glasses and ear protection in shop area.
