Requirements

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

A great opportunity to learn the business, grow your career and work on a range of client accounts and DH initiatives. This position provides support on communications and marketing strategies and tactics for clients ranging from public health outreach to corporate communications. An apprentice works with DH teams on a variety of activities to increase health equity with underserved communities across our state and beyond. They assist with account activities including writing, editing, research, vendor coordination and work closely with DH team members to provide exceptional client/customer service. An awareness of social justice and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) dynamics is important given the range of audiences and communities we support. Join our dynamic apprenticeship program and dive deep into the industry with a 25-40 hour per week commitment for 6 months, ensuring a comprehensive and immersive experience that sets you up for success. A basic understanding of integrated communication and digital strategies and tactics is essential. And, attitude is everything!

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Excellent client/customer service skills
  • Proactive communicator, a growth mindset and a lifelong learner
  • Understand and promote health equity, social justice and DEI concepts
  • Experience working with multicultural communities
  • Work well independently and with a team
  • Strong attention to detail, and focus on quality deliverables
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Strong writer, researcher and editor
  • Research, vendor communication, media buy research and general office assistance
  • Basic understanding of integrated communication strategies
  • Database management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Power Point, Word, Excel and MS Outlook)
  • Strong administrative skills and basic understanding of office systems (IT, facilities, etc.)
  • Basic understanding and ability to learn digital/social platforms
  • Adheres to industry and professional code of ethics (PRSA)

EXPERIENCE

  • Working toward or recently completed an Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or previous life experience in communications, marketing, public health, social change, advertising, equity and justice studies, cultural studies, journalism, liberal arts/humanities or related field of study
  • Bilingual a plus
