Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician is an integral part of the healthcare team assisting the Ophthalmologist in providing excellent patient care.

Job Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer care during every patient interaction.

Complete detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint.

Record medical history, current medications, and purpose of visit utilizing the patient's electronic medical record.

Check condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements.

Administer diagnostic and treatment -oriented procedures including dilation, refraction, pressures, and diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography.

Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications.

Maintain equipment and instruments.

Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

1-3 years of related ophthalmic experience.

Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration with patients and other team members.

Experience using ModMed, EMA, EMR preferred.

COA or COT preferred.
