What Winning As A Rock River Rapids Lifeguard Looks Like:

A Lifeguard maintains the health and safety of all guests.
Observe and enforce all pool rules at all times.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean swimming pool environment at all times.
Responsible for performing necessary rescues and assisting any guests in any reasonable manner required including administering first aid, providing information, and practicing public relations.
Staff special events and private parties; teach classes if qualified as an instructor.
Responsible for maintaining uniforms in a neat clean appearance.
Responsible for maintaining personal fitness to be able to perform required functions.
Responsible for attending all in-service and staff meetings in order to keep current on policies and maintain rescue skills.
Report to supervisor when materials or supplies are needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Facility Coordinator.

AT NO TIME SHOULD THE PERFORMANCE OF ADDITIONAL DUTIES INTERFERE WITH THE LIFEGUARD’S PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: THE SAFETY OF THE PATRONS!

Essential Job Requirements:

EDUCATION: American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and American Red Cross CPR Certifications.

EXPERIENCE: Previous lifeguarding experience is desirable, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Functions will be performed in an environment that may cause exposure to sun and chemical substances such as chlorine. Must be able to pass pre-employment water test. Should be able to see and hear, sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk about. Must possess an audible voice for communication and have the ability to perform a water rescue if necessary.

Qualifications:

Good interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate with co-workers, guests, and the general public. Must maintain ARC lifeguard certification and CPR/PR and first aid training. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Rock River Rapids lifeguards are hired as temporary employees to work in support of opening and operating the RRR facility. Lifeguards may be assigned to either facility, as needed.

Employees in good standing with 2 years of service and KPERS eligibility are eligible for Vacation, Sick Leave, and Holiday pay at specified part-time rates.
