DePelchin Children's Center is Hiring a Behavior Support Specialist (2:30pm - 10:30pm, Mon-Fri) Near Richmond, TX

Position Title: Behavior Support Specialist

Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Available Shifts: 2:30pm - 10:30pm, Mon-Fri

Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Location: Richmond, TX

Position Description:

Behavior Support Specialist are the front-line workers in Residential Services, responsible for day-to-day operations of the milieu. The Behavior Support Specialist is accountable, under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor and indirect supervision by the Residential Treatment Services Administrator, for the safety and wellbeing of the children and youth assigned to their care. This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the interventions and activities designed to promote growth and a stable environment as children and youth move through the program toward permanent placement.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (May be obtained upon hire)
  • Must participate in behavior management and physical restraint training once hired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human or social service-related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of residential service’s safety practices and protocols for children and adolescents.
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness in dealing with new problems and changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: Residential facility
  • Range of Schedule: B Shift: Mon – Fri, 2:30pm - 10:30pm
  • Travel: Occasional, Drives agency vehicle (Valid Texas Driver License required)
  • May require physical restraint of clients
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
