Overview:

Childrens Mercy Kansas City is launching a partial hospitalization program to serve youth with medical/psychiatric complexity and youth who present with developmental differences and severe behavior. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health is recruiting a BCBA-D to assist in the development and supervision of this interdisciplinary program. PHP professionals will include clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, BCBAs, pediatricians, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, dieticians, child life specialists, and teachers, as well as support staff, including a care coordinator/discharge planner. Approximately 12 beds will be allocated for older children and teens with medical and psychiatric complexity, 6 beds for young children who require either med/psych or behavior services, and 6 beds for youth with severe behavior.

Training and/or experience with youth who have developmental differences, autism, genetic disorders impacting development and behavior, and who have severe disruptive behavior is required. Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and implementing function-based treatment plans is required. Experience supervising direct-care staff (e.g., RBTs) and providing training for caregivers is preferred.

In addition to the PHP, Childrens Mercy is developing an integrated inpatient unit that will provide services for the patients named above, but who require inpatient care. Opportunities will exist to participate in the development of both programs.

This position will include teaching in the hospitals pediatric medical and psychology training programs. It will also include protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Childrens Mercy is growing and expanding programs as part of the institutions Mental and Behavioral Health Strategic Plan. We offer a dynamic and collegial work environment that includes 52 psychologists, 9 developmental pediatricians, 7 child and adolescent psychiatrists, masters and doctoral level board certified behavior analysts, and other allied health professionals who work together to provide outstanding mental and behavioral health care to youth in our region and beyond.
