This position performs moderate to difficult para-legal work necessary for the prosecution of criminal cases; assists in carrying out the more complex para-legal tasks in support of Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys for the Department; and performs other related duties as required.
The position applies comprehensive knowledge of legal terms and forms, basic criminal law, types of court actions and various court rules and procedures, methods and techniques of legal research and sources of legal information, legal writing, and interviewing techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and five years of progressively responsible experience involving the research, application, interpretation or explanation of laws, rules and regulations, two of which shall have demonstrated a thorough working knowledge of legal procedures and terminology and the drafting, review and processing of legal papers and documents in a law office.
Substitution: An associate's degree or certificate in a Paralegal or Legal Assistant program will substitute for the required three (3) years of legal support experience involving research, application, interpretation or explanation of laws, rules and regulations which have demonstrated knowledge of legal procedures and terminology.
