Summary You will serve as a Electrical Engineer in the Electrical/Combat Systems Division of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH. Salary Range by Location and Grade Level:

* GS-09 - $59,966 to $77,955 Duties * You will be responsible for the resolution of technical issues under the cognizance of the SUPSHIP Bath Waterfront Chief Engineer. * You will evaluate and approve complex engineering data prepared by the shipbuilder, government design agent, or their subcontractors. * You will conduct technical evaluations and investigations into project and process problems which arise during the design, construction and overhaul of naval ships and applies risk management principles as appropriate. * You will check for proper interpretation and application of specification criteria to ensure that analyses and recommendations are accurate and that conclusions and assumptions are sound. * You will prepare correspondence, technical and trip reports, memoranda, specification change notices, work instructions, contract field modification requests, and scope documents as required to complete project assignments * You will review and evaluate changes to the shipbuilding or ship repair specifications to determine the impact of such changes on the system design, operation, construction schedule and cost. * You will identify and resolve problems that may arise during in-process inspection, test and trials. * You will provide technical solutions to expedite incorporation of engineering changes, and to review contractors engineering products. * You will identify, review and coordinate the technical and contractual resolution of engineering and design issues that arise during the design, construction, test and delivery of a Naval warship. * You will provide provide technical expertise in overseeing the design and construction of a naval warship. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer resolving or troubleshooting issues with shipboard electrical systems (e.g. power generation, power distribution, circuits, shipboard automation, or control and sensing systems) for naval surface ships or submarines. For the GS-07 Grade Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer applying engineering principles or methods to assist in the studies, research, or analysis of shipboard electrical systems (e.g. power generation, power distribution, circuits, shipboard automation, or control and sensing systems) for naval surface ships or submarines. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
