Provides support for Valero's refinery operations computer-based enterprise business solutions as part of the Information Services (IS) Refining Systems team. Works in close collaboration with team members, end users and other IS departments in a dynamic work environment to meet the changing support requirements, with minimal supervision. The primary focus will be support work, but will also be involved in the design and implementation of projects.

Job Duties:

* The primary focus is to support assigned refinery operations applications and business users as a project manager, lead or individual contributor for small projects and/or enhancements to existing applications. This includes the use of Valero's system to track support activities.

* Participates on refinery operations design and implementation for small projects and/or enhancements as a project manager, lead or individual contributor, as required.

* Works on moderately complex tasks for the deployment of new solutions and enhancements/fixes to existing solutions. These include, but is not limited to: trouble-shooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, user interaction, training, defining systems scope, gathering requirements, documenting design & functional specifications, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS and business user coordination.

* Effective work relationships within departmental and functional lines at various job levels with business users, IS departments and Valero business partners.

* Learns or demonstrates an in-depth understanding of more than one business process and associated integration applications.

* Helps coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes, including the development of system specifications, documentation, training, and communication plans.

* Performs analysis on and recommends complex quality solutions for business processes.

* Understands and applies the various IT methodologies which include project management, development, service management and system architecture.

* Strong organizational skills to manage and coordinate business user interactions, including requirements gathering, testing, training, and post implementation support.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.

* A minimum of 5 years of Refinery industry or business/IT experience in business design, programming, testing, and/or implementation.

* Additional Requirements:

Refinery industry or related business/IT knowledge with SAP ERP system.

Knowledge of SAP Netweaver infrastructure, SAP technical architecture, ABAP Web Dynpro, Basis, ALE, RFE, TRFC, and QRFC.

Working knowledge of integration platforms and SOA frameworks and integration tools (SAP, PI, TIBCO/MQ/Crossworlds).

Basic knowledge of networking and network attached instruments.

Experience working with Microsoft Products, Relational Databases, and/or Windows O/S.

Experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience with SQL reporting and scripting languages.

ABAP/4 experience.

Strong skills in JAVA.

Basic skill using Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync).

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
