Your duties at a glance
As an employee working within the
Child Welfare Program
, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare

that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.
As a Family Time Coordinator, you will:
  • Implement the family time plan by on-going consultation and collaboration with the case worker, parents, resource providers and community partners.
  • Gather information from case files and databases, parents, family members, schools, and other resources to plan family time, including the schedule, location, supervision level, and safety plan.
  • Collaborate with parents, family members and resource parents to review family time plans and expectations.
  • Promptly respond to unsafe situations and redirect if the behavior poses a threat to safety.
  • Monitor the emotional needs of the children during supervised family time, and redirect or intervene, as necessary.
  • Support the emotional needs of the child by explaining the purpose of the transport and answering the child’s questions.
  • Transport and/or escort children to school, or medical, counseling, therapeutic, psychological, and other appointments.
  • Keep accurate observations and supervision notes and document these notes in case files and databases.
  • Prepare accurate notes for court testimony.
What you need to qualify
One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as: family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs;
OR
Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections;
OR
45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training;
OR
An Associate's degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services AND six (6) months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

  • Experience with customer service, treating customers, stakeholders, partners, vendors and co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Experience assisting workers in obtaining and compiling confidential information.
  • Experience navigating crisis intervention, conflict resolution, behavior management, and the impact of trauma.
  • Experience working with diverse populations with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusivity.
  • Experience compiling information, completing forms, and ensuring compliance with requirements.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and conducting all work through an accessibility, trauma-informed, anti-racist lens.

Working conditions
  • Your work will be conducted in an office setting and in the community. This is NOT a remote position.
  • This position will supervise family time in client homes, in the community, and in the office.
  • The work schedule for this position will be: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • You will have required travel for day-to-day work in the community. You may also have required travel for the purpose of attending trainings.
  • Your hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional compensated overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • You may walk into stressful situations that require quick decision-making skills to ensure safety of those being serviced and your own physical safety. This may also be trauma inducing.
