Department of Homeland Security - Agency Wide is Hiring an Interdisciplinary (Geospatial Analyst) Near Washington, DC

Position Title: Interdisciplinary (Geospatial Analyst)
This is not a Virtual JDA.

Qualifications:

Qualifications required: Minimum Requirements for Interdiscipinary (Geospatial Analysis) Joint Duty Assignment
  1. Comprehensive level of understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) technology as well as geography, cartography, and geoscience.
  2. Advanced knowledge and skills are required in geospatial applications; in remote sensing; in the use of computers for digital imaging and GIS processing, analysis, visualization and/or digital cartographic techniques.
  3. Knowledge and experience related to GEOINT / GIS applications, geospatial standards, and spatial database design and development.
  4. Two years' experience with ArcGIS Pro in creating maps, data visualizations, and for analysis and modeling.
  5. Two years' working experience with AutoCAD 2020 or above.
  6. Physical Demands
    The work is mostly sedentary, however, while participating in field exercises, Equipment weighing 25 to 50 pounds may have to be lifted and carried while conducting mission support. Mission support may include some physical exertion, such as walking over rough, uneven ground or wet surfaces for extended periods.
  7. Work Environment
    Work is usually in an office environment that maintains normal temperatures, humidity, adequate lighting and control of noise levels. On occasion, the individual may be subject to rugged field conditions while participating in mission support.
  8. Travel and Work Hours
    Must be willing and able to travel for special event support on-location (over 50% travel).

Responsibilities:

The U.S Secret Service/Forensic Services Division/Visual Information Branches/Multimedia Operations Branch is responsible for providing Geospatial Visualization Services in support of our integrated mission. Investigations are supported by providing geospatial analysis to provide new insights into casework. The Protective mission is supported by utilizing GIS technologies and analysis to provide technical and visual support and provide a common visual language that can be used by the Secret Service and its partners in securing protective events.
The incumbent will participate in:
  • Providing support in integrating both spatial and non-spatial datasets/databases into geospatial processing systems and perform analyses through data overlays to support protective and investigative-related projects.
  • Developing geo-referenced digital databases and ensuring database information is correctly linked to appropriate mapping elements so that analyses of the data are at optimal performance for display and output to final products.
  • Utilizing ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Portal, and ESRI City Engine to aid in data collection, editing, manipulating, and generation of interim and final digital data and GIS products.
  • Working with and creating .shp files; managing and organizing layers; viewing layer management in digital applications; creating map project file geodatabases from metadata for each project; creating applications in Experienced Builder.
  • Using AutoCAD to interpret CAD files. Creating digital floor plans from existing files in either PDF or CAD to create clean floor plans for customers. Using CAD file integration into both digital and printed maps.
  • Interpreting data from Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, or other media for the creation of maps for both print and digital distribution.
  • Working independently across organizational lines with agents, officers, analysts, and other professionals to identify and develop GIS final products.
  • Applying professional judgment, technical skills, and knowledge to integrate GIS data with program projects, performing analyses of GIS data, and producing final products.
  • Evaluating the availability and technical adequacy of existing digital data generated by other government agencies - especially data from the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the private sector, learning institutions, and individuals - for utilization on U.S. Secret Service projects.
  • Ensuring that all mapping and GIS products adhere to all relevant standards and regulations, and to Federal Geographic Data Committee and objectives as laid out in OMB Circular A-16
