About this Role:
We are recruiting for a Research Scientist Supervisor II (Social/Behavioral Sciences) or (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) to fill this vacancy.

The Research Scientist Supervisor II (RS Sup II) will use social/behavioral, statistical, and survey techniques, health services theoretical models and research methods to plan, organize, and direct the scientific, multidisciplinary work of the Clinical Quality and Performance Reporting Section (CQPRS) of the Data Science Branch (DSB) within the Data Analytics Divison (DAD) of Enterprise Data and Information Management (EDIM) program.
This position is subject to the Department’s Conflict of Interest Code and requires annual filing of a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position for current California civil service employees. T&D assignments cannot exceed 24 months. However, successful T&D candidates may transition to a permanent appointment, if eligible at the end of the T&D assignment.

Working Conditions

Telework is based on operational needs for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely and/or whose duties are conducive to teleworking per DHCS’ Telework Policy and in accordance with Government Code Sections 14200 – 14203 for employees residing in California. Should the incumbent need to report to an office, they will need to report to DHCS office location: 1700 K Street, Sacramento, CA.

  • Hybrid – refers to some working days in office and other days telework.
  • Telework – refers to all working days at approved alternate work location.

The Data Analytics Division’s (DAD) mission is to describe and analyze data to answer questions that can be used to meet business objectives and drive decision making.

The DAD is part of the EDIM program, which provides department-wide leadership and support of the collection, analysis, management, and dissemination of quality data and data products in order for programs to make sound, data-driven decisions to better serve beneficiaries, improve outcomes, and support programmatic needs and requirements.

Telework Information

The DHCS standard for hybrid work is a minimum of two days per week in-person and site-based and up to three teleworking days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department’s operational business needs and subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
