Department of Consumer Affairs is Hiring an OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) Near Sacramento, CA

Under the direction of the Central Services Manager [Staff Services Manager I (SSM I)], the Office Technician (Typing) [OT(T)], in an advanced journey level capacity, performs clerical duties and provides technical support for the Central Services Unit for the Board of Psychology (Board). The OT(T) responds to a variety of requests from the public, professional organizations, and licensees for current information and documentation pertaining to professions regulated by the Board.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. The ability to use a personal computer and telephone is essential. The ability to type a minimum of 40 Words per Minute (WPM) is essential. The incumbent spends approximately 75%- 85% of the working day using a personal computer. The position requires bending and stooping to retrieve files, walking, and occasional light lifting, up to 25-40 pounds. Ability to professionally and courteously handle calls/correspondence from the public of various tones and temperaments is essential. Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential part of this job.

Telework:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and Department of Consumers Telework Policy for incumbent residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes reporting to the office on a weekly basis and as needed/required.

The Board of Psychology is responsible for consumer protection through the regulation of the profession of psychology in the State of California. Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section).   • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI): Title 11, Section 703(d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, incumbents in this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.
