JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent of this position serves as a Clinical Nurse for the Department of Behavioral Health/Access and Referral Center. The incumbent serves as team lead primarily responsible for performing a full range of professional nursing care in a clinic-based setting for individuals seeking substance use disorder treatment services. Ensures assessment of consumers, evaluation of effectiveness of care for withdrawal symptoms, medical triage and screening for co-occurring disorders. The incumbent works as part of a team and makes recommendations for level of care based on medical presentation. Determines effective approaches to treatment within established time frame. Provides on-going direction to a team of nursing personnel. Collects data and assesses nursing care needs for clients needing care or transfer patients. Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work and reviews completed work to ensure goals, priorities, and deadlines have been met.
This position IS in the collective bargaining unit represented by DCNA and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Associate Degree Program or Diploma Program 2 years
Baccalaureate Degree Program 1 years
Note: Applicants must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the District of Columbia (or have made application for licensure). In addition to meeting basic requirements, this position requires one (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade leave equivalent to CS-09.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in a clinic setting. The employee may be exposed to potentially dangerous situations and is subject to possible physical harm/attack from emotionally disturbed, hostile, volatile or uncooperative clients and or their families.

Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying protection sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:
RESIDENCY PREFERENCE
A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
