Salary Range: The salary range for new hires is $21.75 - $22.59 per hour. The salary range for internal DAEOP candidates is $21.75 - $26.37 per hour.

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Perform any combination of routine calculating, analysis, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records, according to accounting procedures, and related policies and procedures.
  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
  • Check the accuracy of figures, calculations, orders, and postings recorded by other workers.
  • Resolve Denver Public Schools (DPS) vendor issues (e.g., billing errors, non-receipt of invoices by contacting vendors, researching information; and communicating results.
  • Process vendor payments by entering data (e.g., invoices) into computer software systems; calculating and verifying amounts and preparing vendor checks.
  • Verify and reconcile invoice data against invoice description amounts.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of reports (e.g., summary, reconciliation, annual vendor usage) and spreadsheets.
  • May maintain and update substitute paraprofessional SEA time and attendance.
Compiles, organizes, tracks and updates data for one or more different accounts, and completes various reports.
  • Update, organize and file accurate records (e.g., invoices, payments).
  • Calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal and DPS organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of related experience in accounting, finance or bookkeeping Intermediate level experience with a variety of computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing and databases, and automated on-line accounting systems.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office / Google Suite products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Work collaboratively with others on a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, all levels of supervision and the public, preferred.
  • Ability to receive, coordinate and assign various job related tasks simultaneously, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral formats, preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills, preferred.

Education Requirements:
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or higher, preferred
