Denver Public Schools is Hiring a TEACHER, EARLY CHILDHOOD - POOLED Near Denver, CO

Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher (ECT)
Department: Extended Learning & Community Schools
Location: VARIOUS LOCATIONS within the District
Hourly Rate: $23.00/hour; $1,000 hiring bonus (two installments at 6 and 12 months)
Hours: 20-35 a week (hours vary by school and may vary due to holidays/breaks)

Essential Functions & Objectives:
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and fostering a positive, nurturing and organized environment leading to best growth and development of children, including but not limiting to;
  • Attend required orientations, training, and staff meetings.
  • Implement high quality preschool programming where students are engaged in a variety of ways.
  • Maintain open communication with staff, parents, and foster a positive environment for children.
  • Use positive development strategies.
  • Interpret and deliver curriculum for children in an enriching and engaging manner.
  • Directly supervise play areas, create and implement activities, maintain logs and reports, housekeeping, and additional duties as assigned.
  • Interpret the philosophy of Denver Public Schools and building community with faculty, staff, parents, visitors, and community.
  • Ensure that Colorado Department of Human Services child care, District and Department policies and procedures are followed.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on program operation as requested.
  • Be proactive and knowledgeable at interpreting and implementing CDHS (Colorado Department of Human Services) and Department policies.
  • Assist in training for new staff members.
  • Be familiar and able to maintain PDIS (Early Childhood Professional Development Information System) records and Colorado Shines guidelines.
Knowledge, Experience and other Qualifications:
  • Must pass CBI (Colorado), FBI (Federal), and any Out-of-State (Federal) background checks.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to become First Aid, CPR and Standard Precautions certified and keep up with annual required certifications and training per licensing rules and regulations.
  • Ability to relate positively to children and adults.
  • Ability to build relationships and partnerships with diverse people and organizations; strong collaboration skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivated individual.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to become familiar with the State of Colorado's Rules & Regulations for Child Care Centers.
Education & Experience:
Early Childhood Teacher qualified per the Colorado Department of Early Childhood's Rules and Regulations for Child Care Centers. For additional information on requirements for ECTs, please visit: https://cdec.colorado.gov/professional-certifications
Applicants must have at least one of the following qualification pathways available for review to be Early Childhood Teacher Qualified:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • A current Level 2 (or higher) 3.0 credential via Colorado Shines
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any area plus ECE 101 and ECE 103 or equivalent.
  • An Associate's Degree or 60 credit hours in ECE that includes ECE 101 and ECE 103 or equivalent
  • A current Colorado Teaching License in Elementary Education, Special Education, or Early Childhood
  • A current CDA issued by the CDA council
  • 18 semester credit hours in any content area including ECE 101 or ECE 103 or equivalent plus 455 hours of verified experience working with children 2.5 to 8 years of age.
  • Both ECE 101 and ECE 103 or equivalent or a current Level I 3.0 credential via Colorado Shines plus verification of 3,185 hours working with children 2.5 to 8 years
