Essential Functions and Objectives:
Responsible for setting the strategic implementation of a comprehensive business, finance, and operations model for the department. Oversees other department management and planning functions, such as financial activities, grant development, community-based organization networking, and department enhancements. Oversees team’s staffing and department budget functions and supports operating model by driving organizational and efficiency initiatives for the department.
In coordination with department leadership and the finance department, guides the department in achievement of vision and strategic goals
Works collaboratively to develop a comprehensive budget with a focus on long term sustainability
Provides financial analysis of budgets for all funds (including grants) in the assigned department(s), identifying and researching variance analysis, risks and solutions, and operational needs
Collaborates with department leadership to collect, review, and process financial information and create necessary financial reports, ensuring accuracy
Facilitates talent acquisition and acts as the Human Resources (HR) systems proxy for all hiring managers within Safety and Security
Lends technology and logistics support to the department around Emily Griffith Campus parking and name badges
Works collaboratively to develop sustainability plans for grant funded programs, including actively seeking additional funding opportunities
Manages all department contracts with vendors and partner organizations
Maintains general oversight of department financial processes and billing practices
Facilitates department communication with school personnel and District department leaders through creation and implementation of targeted communications strategies
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience in financial and operational management in an educational setting with extensive experience working with complex accounting systems, databases, and spreadsheets
Project management experience, including planning and control of cross-functional projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Minitab) and specialized accounting, budgeting, and Human Resources software
Effective time management and organizational skills
Effective and diplomatic verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on communications with students, collaborative decision making teams, and diverse, multicultural communities
Strong attention to detail
Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines
The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
Works collaboratively with others on a team
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify issues and generate potential solutions
High degree of ethics and integrity in handling sensitive information

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration Prefered but not required
