About Denver Indian Health and Family Services, Inc.

We are Denver's only Urban Indian Health program providing culturally appropriate health care for American Indian families and individuals. You may be wondering... * Do you charge for services? * Is DIHFS an IHS hospital? * What services do you provide? * Do I need proof of tribal affiliation? * Do I need Health Insurance? * Most services at DIHFS are available for Native people at no cost, but there may be charges for some services, like certain dental procedures. Please call to discuss your specific situation. * No, we are not a full-service Indian Health Service hospital. DIHFS is one of 34... Urban Indian Health Programs partially funded through the IHS (with a Title V "compact"). We are able to provide many (but not all) services, and urgent, or advanced/specialty care, may include a referral. Our agency is a member of the National Council of Urban Indian Health (NCUIH). * We provide health and family services, and we work closely with our partners; the Denver Indian Center, Denver Indian Family Resources Center, and others. Visit our website for more details! * Please have your Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood ready. We welcome non-Native patients on a sliding-scale fee structure. If you don't have a CDIB, please bring your Tribal ID card, or BIA form. Children under 18 may use parental documentation with child's birth certificate. Please call for assistance. * We check every client for health coverage eligibility; like IHS/Medicare/Medicaid/private insurance. Coverage helps us to coordinate specialty/advanced care for our clients, and helps us to recover costs! We even provide on-site specialists to help you with the paperwork! We gratefully accept donations! DIHFS is a non-profit charitable organization. Please visit our website for charitable giving information. More
