Denver Health is Hiring a WIC Co - Enrollment Specialist Near Denver, CO

Job Summary
Under general supervision, the WIC Co-Enrollment Specialist delivers WIC services to participants by determining and documenting eligibility, maintaining participant and program records, interviewing, and providing nutrition and breastfeeding education, and promoting behavior change. The WIC Educator also refers WIC participants to appropriate healthcare, community, and social services programs as needed. The WIC Co-enrollment Specialist coordinates and integrates into flow of a medical clinic. The WIC Co-Enrollment specialist must feel comfortable networking and presenting informally with varying leaves of medical professionals. Other duties may include, assists clinic in front desk reception area and answers appointment line when help is needed. Duties include, answering phones, scheduling appointments, triaging calls, checking participants in and more.
Responsibilities
1. Enrolls Participants onto the program (determines WIC program eligibility, provides quality nutrition education counseling, and offers referrals to other services as needed)
2. Follows State and Local Agency procedures to provide a quality WIC program (Completes accurate health assessments, obtains anthropometric data, conducts nutrition interviews, provides full explanation of the program, maintains program records)
3. Promotes breastfeeding as the optimal infant feeding choice while allowing participant choice (maintains breastfeeding friendly environment, provides breastfeeding education and counseling)
4. Refers participants to other community/health/social services as the need arises
5. Provides excellent costumer service to WIC’s internal and external partners
6. Navigation of Epic for reports, basic demographic information, and anthropometric data
7. Attend additional trainings including but not limited to Motivational interviewing and Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
8. Attend and serve as the WIC expert in cross departmental meetings
9. Strong and open communication with Medical food security champion and WIC Clinic Supervisor via in person, email and telephone
10. Triages calls to appropriate WIC personnel
11. Provides accurate and complete information to WIC participants about program eligibility
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize work activities with general supervision
  • Easily adaptable to change
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Computers and Technology Skills
  • High level of computer accuracy
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Certificates, Licenses and Registration
  • Level 1 and 2 State WIC certification (must be completed within 90 days of hire)
  • Level 3 State WIC Certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • CPR certification (within 90 days of hire)
Education
  • High school diploma or GED Experience
Experience
  • One year customer service experience preferred
  • Pervious WIC experience or experience working in a medical clinic preferred
