The Licensed Clinical Social Worker ("LCSW", "Social Worker") works under minimal supervision to plan, organize and implement psychiatric social work treatment for clients and families. This work includes assessing the psychological needs of patients and families and carrying out interventions such as individual, group, and family therapy consistent with the spirit of evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy. The work also includes identifying and connecting patients to resources to assist with their ongoing behavioral healthcare.
Essential Functions:
  • Administers psychiatric treatment, coordination of care and discharge plans as it pertains to the behavioral health needs of the client and family. (20%)
  • Co-facilitates or facilitates family sessions throughout the duration of admission that relate to the collection of collateral information, diagnosis, prognosis, family communication, increased coping and psychiatric safety planning. (20%)
  • Manages the scheduling of family meetings to align with family availability and to prevent double-booking across provider disciplines. (20%)
  • Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments that are thorough, individualized, objective and complete. (10%)
  • Participates in the implementation and execution of treatment plans, including daily multidisciplinary rounds and weekly treatment plan reviews as needed. (10%)
  • Applies knowledge of individual, group and family functioning to ensure appropriateness of treatment methods to assist client in achieving treatment goals. Is aware of and able to articulate the professional use of self in the relationship to maximize client's adjustment, enhance strengths and promote resolution of identified problems. Demonstrates ability to develop effective therapeutic interventions that are socio-culturally sensitive. (10%)
  • Utilizes clinical skills to provide treatment recommendations to clients and families. Coordinates follow-up treatment referrals to various levels of care including short-term residential treatment, long-term residential treatment, partial hospital programs, intensive outpatient programs, in-home therapy, day treatment, and outpatient therapy/psychiatry as indicated. (10%)
Education:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited college or university Required
Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Two years of full-time post Master's Degree social work practice under the supervision of a licensed or equivalently qualified social worker or other DORA approved professional practitioner, required. Required
Licenses:
  • LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW State Licensing Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and brief and long term therapy processes.
  • Knowledge of patient populations' cultural, religious, ethnic, and social systems in interactions, care planning and education.
  • Knowledge of medical terms, abbreviations, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis and demonstrates this knowledge verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in navigating and documenting within a medical record system.
  • Skill in providing care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit.
  • Skill in establishing a treatment alliance and engaging the client system in goal setting and prioritizing.
  • Ability to manage the professional relationship including termination.
  • Ability to respond to trauma or psychiatric emergency.
  • Computer skills required.
