Responsibilities and practice

The Dallas office of Dentons US LLP is seeking a PhD level scientist interested in pursuing a career in patent law to join our sophisticated Intellectual Property & Technology group, which focuses on the biotechnology/life science technologies. The person hired for this position will be part of an expert team and will work collaboratively with others, and to be trained to in patent prosecution. Responsibilities include:

• Draft and prosecute domestic and foreign patent applications in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences
• Conduct technical research to support clients’ technology
• Provide technical support for the practice

Position requirements

Personal skills/attributes

• Is conscientious with a proven attention to detail
• Possesses strong analytical skills and an ability to convey technical ideas concisely and effectively
• Embraces teamwork and works effectively with others

Technical skills

• PhD in a life science discipline is required
• Law firm or USPTO experience is not required, but is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
