Dental Surgical Assistant

Dental Implants and Periodontics of Connecticut, LLC is seeking to hire a full-time dental (surgical) assistant in a busy periodontal practice. The candidate would work 50% in our Waterbury office located at 1064 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT, and 50% in our Meriden office located at 546 South Broad Street, Suite 2D, Meriden, CT.

No dental assisting experience is necessary to apply for this position. We will consider candidates with a background in any field - although we ideally are looking for someone interested in long-term employment. We will also consider candidates who may be interested in a two year or longer gap period between college and graduate education. The ideal candidate can multitask well, learn quickly, and work at a fast pace. The ideal candidate also has a friendly disposition and enjoys working with patients; is eager to work as part of a team; and is very organized.

The tasks of the position include:

• Assisting with surgical procedures
• Interviewing patients to obtain an accurate medical history
• Taking x-rays and photos of patients
• Maintaining patient records
• Teaching proper oral care to patients
• Maintaining a clean and sterile work environment
• Sterilizing instruments
• Maintaining dental equipment

The following skills are strongly preferred, but not necessarily required: previous experience as a dental assistant, familiarity with Curve dental software, Dexis, and X-ray certification. The candidate must either have infection control certification or be able to pass the exam within nine months of hire. Pay: Based on experience. The position is between 32 and 40 hours per week with possible overtime, Monday through Friday. It is typically a four day work week. The Dental Assistant would occasionally be on-call for emergencies.
